FFC Baptism info - April 26, 2026

Thank you for signing up to be baptized at Faith Family Church. It is an honor that you would choose to be baptized here at FFC. We are beyond excited for the opportunity to help you declare Jesus as Lord of your life before other members of our church body!

Below we have some important information regarding the baptism, so please read carefully to make sure that you’re prepared for this Sunday, April 26th.

  1. We will be having the baptism in the main sanctuary near the end of 10am service.

  2. Please arrive by 9:30am for instructions by Pastor David.

  3. Please come to service prepared for the baptism. We live in Arizona so you’ll fit right in wearing swim shorts and a t-shirt!

  4. If you are being baptized, please do not wear a shirt that is see-through when wet (No white or thin shirts).

  5. Bring a towel for after the baptism to dry off. Sometimes things happen and you might forget your towel, we will have spare towels available.

We encourage you to read the below section so you can feel prepared for this coming Sunday.

How do you receive salvation?

Romans 10:9

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”

Believe Jesus is your Lord, and believe in your heart He has raised from the dead. THIS is what saves us, not baptism.

What are we being saved from, and why should we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior?

God is perfect, and has set a standard for us to hit 100% of the time. Whenever we don’t hit that standard, it is called sin.

If we have lied, that’s a sin

If we have hated, that’s a sin

If we have stolen, that’s a sin

If we have lusted, that's a sin

There's more, but simply put, any action that doesn't line up with God's perfection is sin.

We have all sinned.

Romans 3:23

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”

What does sin do to us?

Sinning just once makes us guilty. Just like somebody breaking the law, there is a price or sentence that must be served.

The price for our sin is death and eternal separation from God in Hell.

Matthew 13:41-42

41 “The Son of Man will send out His angels, and they will gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and those who practice lawlessness,

42 and will cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth.”

THIS IS THE GOOD NEWS:

JESUS paid that price for us by coming to earth as a human, and living perfect for us. He was nailed to a cross and died as a sacrifice for us.

That death paid the price for us so we would never have to go to Hell, and we would live for eternity in heaven.

Romans 6:23

“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

THIS IS WHAT BAPTISM IS:

Colossians 2:11-15

11 “In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,

12 buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.

13 And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses,

14 having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

15 Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it.”

Baptism is a symbol of what Christ did for us.

1. He died and was buried (us going in the water)

2. He rose again (us coming out of the water)

Why get baptized?

We get baptized so we can show what Jesus did for us, and declare to others that Jesus is our Lord and Savior before other people.

Matthew 10:32-33

32 Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven.

33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.”

FAQ about baptism!

Q: How old do you have to be to get baptized at FFC?
A: Old enough to be able to explain why you want to be baptized. We have found that typically around 8 years old, children start to understand the importance and symbolism of being baptized.

Q: What kind of baptism does FFC do?
A: We do a full immersion baptism. Meaning, you go all the way under the water.

Q: What does baptism represent?
A: When you are fully under the water, it represents your old self (before you accepted Christ as your Lord) dying to sin. When you are brought out of the water, it represents you resurrecting into your new self that God created by your acceptance of Jesus in your life! (2 Cor 5:17)

Q: What should I say when asked "who is Jesus to me?" (Which we ask before you are baptized)
A: This is your opportunity to tell others that Jesus is YOUR Lord and Savior! Jesus said in Matthew 10:32 "whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven." So say it! Shout it if you want! Your declaration of Jesus as Lord of your life is something we're all excited about.

Q: Does being baptized mean I'm born again?
A: Baptism in and of itself does not provide salvation. 1 Peter 3:21 in the AMPC says, "And baptism, which is a figure [of their deliverance], does now also save you [from inward questions and fears], not by the removing of outward body filth [bathing], but by [providing you with] the answer of a good and clear conscience (inward cleanness and peace) before God [because you are demonstrating what you believe to be yours] through the resurrection of Jesus Christ."

Basically, baptism gives you a fresh mental start and allows you to demonstrate your faith in Christ! Let's not forget what Romans 10:9 says, "if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." According to this verse baptism is not a requirement to be saved, but as stated before, it is your way to demonstrate your faith in Jesus!

If you have any questions at all regarding the baptism please reply to the text sent to you and we will get back to you with more information.

We’re looking forward to celebrating with you!
